Canada Day is Canada's annual national day! It is also commonly known as "National Day"! It is on July 1st every year and is a national public holiday.
This day was once called "Dominion Day" in history, to celebrate the fact that on July 1, 1867, the British North America Treaty merged the three British territories in North America: the Province of Canada (now southern Ontario and southern Quebec), Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick into a federation. It was not until 1982, when Canada became a fully sovereign and independent country, that "Dominion Day" was officially renamed "Canada Day".
